Depots
VR FleetCare offers depot services in six cities. We ensure that railway safety in Finland is at the highest possible level. That's why we need to be close to our customers.
Maintenance professionals at your service
Our experts and mechanics have long experience with different types of rolling stock. With this experience, we help companies operating on Finnish railways to carry out safe and efficient fleet maintenance.
Service Workshops
VR FleetCare's two service workshops are located in Helsinki and Pieksämäki. The service workshops support our extensive depot network by providing large and versatile facilities for heavy maintenance - from complete rolling stock to key components. The Pieksämäki workshop also houses the wagon lines for the production of new freight wagons.
Helsinki - Passenger rolling stock and electric locomotives
In Helsinki, we operate Finland's largest depot area, over 60 hectares, consisting of both depot operations and a service workshop. The site is located in the Ilmala area, about 5 kilometres north of Helsinki city centre. The area has its own equipment halls for day-to-day operations, as well as separate component lines, a wheel lathe and washing halls.

Pieksämäki - New build, freight wagons, diesel locomotives and railway machinery
The Pieksämäki service workshop is located in the Southern Savonia region, about 300 km north-east of Helsinki. Pieksämäki has been carrying out various railway maintenance activities for more than 90 years. The area has a logistical advantage as it is easily accessible by rail and road. In addition, the service workshop and depot are located in adjacent properties.

Project Centre
To ensure sufficient capacity and capabilities to handle the most demanding international fleet projects, we have invested significantly in the development of our Oulu depot area.
Our Oulu site is ideally located near Tornio, with developing connections that allow for easy transport of rolling stock between the countries. The Tornio station also has a bogie exchange area to transport equipment between Finland and other Nordic countries to its final destination by rail.
